Canadian cheese makers win big at the American Cheese Society competition

cheeseThe American Cheese Society hold its 2011 conference and competition in Montreal, last week.

Many Canadian cheeses made from cows’ milk were named as category winners, and Louis D’or, a firm, organic, farmstead cheese produced by Fromagerie du Presbytère in Quebec, placed third overall in the ‘Best of Show’.

Mariposa Dairy’s Lindsay Bandaged Goat Cheddar was first runner-up in Best of Show.

Yes, many fine cheeses are made with cow’s milk but that’s only half the story.
