Common sense tells us exactly what several scientific studies have also confirmed: vacations are undoubtedly the best weapon against stress. And yet, they are often elusive for those people who dedicate their body and soul to their work or who have allowed daily routines to take over their life.
Therefore it is essential to organise yourself in such a way that work doesn’t become the be-all and end-all in your life. But if this is not possible and your work cannot be put on hold completely, it is a must to set strict limits for yourself, such as not working for more than two hours a day. In fact, holidays should give us a feeling of taking control of our life. In other words, we should ‘fill up’ our anti-stress calendar as we please, since the activities that de-stress are the ones that we ‘want’ to do – as compared to the ones we ‘have’ to do.
Two weeks are normally enough for taking a real physical and psychological break, in order to eliminate stress. Use this time wisely to get back into shape and to take care of yourself. Keep an eye on what you eat and sleep well so that you won’t return to work feeling… tired!
