You may have heard or read about the volumetric eating theory, that focuses on eating more low-calorie, high-volume foods, so as to reach satiety with a lower calorie intake.
Numerous studies demonstrate that when you can eat as much as you want of such foods, you end up eating less.
There are basically two factors explaining this: first, the simple fact of seeing a large amount of food — like a big salad — helps feel more satisfied; second, foods that contain water, air, or fiber also cause the stomach to stretch and empty slowly, hence making you feel full for a longer time.
Interesting, but you don’t need to worry about this, because our meal plans provide you with plenty of food that is fairly low in calories.
For those of you interested in numbers, our meal plans provide an average of 1,3 calories per gram. Compare this to 1 serving of 25 french fries (about 140 g), which provides almost three times as much at 3,2 calories per gram.
Bon appetit!
